— Organisational Structure

Architecture built for accountable research delivery

FRCC separates research design, field operations, and policy translation into distinct functional units — each with a named lead and clear mandate, so partners always know who is responsible for each phase.

/ Functional units

Four units, one integrated mandate

The structure is lean by design — adapted to West African institutional realities, not imported from a donor-country template. Each unit has a defined scope and a single accountable lead.

Executive Directorate

Research Design & Methods Unit

Field Operations Unit

Policy Translation & Advisory Unit

Converts findings into implementation-ready frameworks and advisory outputs. Works directly with institutional counterparts to ensure evidence is embedded before project close.

Strategic oversight, institutional governance, and external representation. The Executive Director holds final accountability for research quality and partner commitments.

Manages data collection logistics, enumerator coordination, and quality assurance across community and government field sites throughout Sierra Leone and West Africa.

Designs study protocols, sampling frameworks, and analytical methods. Leads literature review and instrument development for each commissioned project.

How each unit works

Distinct roles, shared accountability

Research Design & Methods

Partners shape the research questions; this unit designs the rigorous framework to answer them. Protocols are peer-reviewed internally before any data collection begins.

Field Operations

A dedicated field lead oversees every data-collection phase, with daily quality checks and real-time reporting. Partners receive regular field status updates throughout.

Policy Translation & Advisory

This unit sits inside partner institutions during the advisory phase — not at a distance. Findings are stress-tested against the institution's existing processes before final handover.
